Northeast Kingdom Authors Event Dedicated to Harriet Fisher

Harriet Fisher of Lyndonville, a prolific writer of Northeast Kingdom history, including six books on the topic, looked forward to attending the gathering of Northeast Kingdom authors in Newport on August 30. However, she won't being making it. Harriet passed away suddenly on August 4 at 90 years old.
Scott and Penny Wheeler of Derby, the publishers of Vermont's Northland Journal, who are organizing the event along with the Goodrich Memorial Library in Newport, have announced that they are dedicating the event to Harriet's memory and works.
“We're doing this to recognize and remember Harriet and her works at preserving the history of the Northeast Kingdom,” Scott Wheeler said. “Not only did Harriet help preserve the history of the Kingdom, she was a mentor and friend to other writers, especially those who write Northeast Kingdom history. She was, and still is, a true inspiration to me and many other writers.”
The gathering of authors from the Kingdom (of many genres, not only history), will take place on Saturday, August 30 from noon to 3 p.m. It will provide a time for authors to meet one another and the people who read their works. The event will also serve as a great opportunity for people to buy their winter reading material and gifts for Christmas. The event is free and open to the public. Come at your leisure during the hours of the event and browse and buy the works of the authors of the Northeast Kingdom. For a list of some of the authors coming to the event go to www.northlandjournal.com or give Scott Wheeler a call at (802) 334-5920. Other authors wishing to set up at the library for this event are also encouraged to contact Mr. Wheeler. |
