The 60th Birthday Party held on Saturday, November 14  was a huge success, bringing out people who loved the Northeast Kingdom. Left to right: political satirist Norm Lewis - AKA Danny Gore of Danville, Lola Aiken (the widow of U.S. Senator George Aiken who helped tell the world about the Kingdom in 1949), and that's me, Scott Wheeler of Derby, the publisher of the Northland Journal, and one of the organizers of the event.

 Mrs. Aiken and Stephan Terry. Mr. Terry worked on Senator George Aiken's staff in Washington D.C.. He also wrote a book about Mr. Aiken.

 Former state representative, Leland Simpson of Lyndonville, shares some memories of his father. His father, the late Arthur Simpson is also credited with helping name the Northeast Kingdom. Sitting in front of Mr. Simpson is Elliott Morse (the grandson of Sen. Aiken). In back of him is Jana Parker of Brownington. Ms. Parker is the niece of the late Wallace Gilpin. Mr. Gilpin was another man who helped coin the phrase - Northeast Kingdom.
